You Can Now Trade in Your Old Third-Party Cameras to Upgrade to the RED V-Raptor
RED Digital Cinema announced the return of its popular trade-ins program last year, and since then, the company has been slowly expanding which cameras have been trade-in-able. The big prize right now for many interested in RED trade-ins is the new V-RAPTOR, as well as options to get your hands on a new KOMODO or KOMODO-X.
The big news now is that RED has expanded its trade-ins program to allow for interested parties to trade in third-party cameras (as well as other RED DSMC2 cameras, too), which can get you up to $10,000 in credit towards the new V-RAPTOR.
Here’s what you need to know about this RED trade-in program and how you can cash in on this offer, which is set to run from now through the end of June.
RED Trade-In Program
As mentioned above, the RED Trade-In Program returned officially last March, with RED CEO Keiji Oishi praising the return as “this initiative not only empowers creators to stay at the forefront of innovation but also reinforces our commitment to financial accessibility and environmental stewardship.”
The goal is obviously one aimed at getting new RED cameras in the hands of interested filmmakers and video professionals, and as the camera arms race really hasn’t slowed down much in the past decade, it is helpful to always be trading in and up.
This new update for the RED Trade-In Program adds third-party cameras for the new V-RAPTOR as an option for the first time, though, which is quite notable and another way for non-RED users to make the transition if they so choose.
How to Trade-In
If this sounds like something you’re interested in, you have from now until the end of June to participate. Trade-in value is subject to change and based on evaluation from the RED team on product condition, too.
