The Concacaf Club Rankings began in 2023. The system uses a mix of international club competitions, domestic league matches, and cup games. From the official explanation:

These competitions are weighted in terms of the ranking points available per match, with international matches awarding more ranking points than domestic first-division league and cup matches.

The calculating formula has been developed in a way that allows clubs to know ahead of each match how many ranking points they can gain or lose depending on the result (win, draw, or loss).

Clubs gain more ranking points for defeating a higher-ranked opponent and lose more ranking points should they be defeated by a lower-ranked opponent. Home-field advantage is also a factor.

The Concacaf Club Rankings impact hosting priority when the bracket is initially drawn, while later hosts are chosen based on their performance in the tournament.

Hosting priority is broken down by the following criteria:

  • Most points awarded (3 points for win, 1 point for draw, 0 points for loss)
  • Best goal difference
  • Most goals scored
  • Most away goals scored
  • Most wins
  • Most away wins
  • The lowest number of points accumulated based on the number of yellow and red cards per match
  • Highest ranked participating club in Concacaf Club Rankings immediately after the applicable round is completed
  • Drawing of lots by Concacaf

Nashville SC are set to take on Inter Miami CF in the Round of 16. They'll host the first round on Wednesday, March 11, before traveling to Ft. Lauderdale for the second leg the following week.
