Dallas snapshot
Head coach Eric Quill is in his second season as a head coach in MLS with FC Dallas. Los Toros have found some success under __ Quill despite losing DP midfielder Luciano Acosta midway through 2025. Dallas made the playoffs in 2025, but exited in the first round against eventual finalists Vancouver Whitecaps.
While there weren't any blockbuster moves for Dallas, they were able to add reinforcement in needed areas. Swedish wingback Herman Johansson and midfielder Ran Binyamin joined the club and made their debuts in the MLS opener last weekend.
The team's talisman and attacking leader continues to be striker Petar Musa. The Croatian striker scored 19 goals and had seven assists in all competitions last season. He seems to have picked up where he left off, scoring twice against Toronto in the 2026 MLS opener.

Musa is eyeing a spot with the Croatian national team in their World Cup campagin and he has been linked with a move back to Europe. The former Benfica man links with striker partner Logan Farrington to form Dallas' front two. Farrington himself bagged a goal and an assist in the opener.
Dallas rely on a three-at-the-back system with a focus on directness and transitions. Quill switched things around after the departure of Acosta and has found relative success implementing a team-first mentality.

It's too early to tell whether Quill's men can improve on their 2025 record. That said, there were some positive signs to take from Saturday's game against Toronto. Though conceding twice isn't ideal, the fight shown to come back and win the match will go a long way.

Nashville SC snapshot
Nashville SC started the 2026 season with a bang. The Boys in Gold accumulated three straight wins and have outscored their opponents 11-1.
The biggest change coming into 2026 for Nashville is the depth. Head coach BJ Callaghan has a wealth of options in almost every position, allowing for more competition and higher quality throughout the squad. Callaghan has already used 23 players in the first three matches, and Nashville have already had 12 different goal contributors.
Striker-turned-winger Warren Madrigal had an incredible home debut in Nashville's MLS opener, contributing with a goal and two assists. His ability to play across the front line and directness, make him a nightmare for defenders to deal with. The Costa Rican is likely to start against Dallas and will be looking to continue his form.

The other three goals from the MLS opener came from DPs Hany Mukhtar and Sam Surridge , both of whom seem just as elite as they were last season. Rounding up the attack is new DP Cristian Espinoza , who was able to attract defenders and allow more space for his teammates.
One of the big changes for Nashville seems to be in goal. Brian Schwake has been used as the number one goalkeeper in all three matches, while longtime starter Joe Willis has been on the bench. Schwake's ability with his feet is a big plus, especially in a Callaghan system that requires the keeper to be more involved in possession.
