For paid subscribers (and last-minute worship planners), I also offer some liturgical resources and sermon prompts based on the week's readings from The Revised Common Lectionary and/or The Narrative Lectionary. Each offering is written on Wednesday and published on Thursday, allowing me to focus on current events or issues.\n\nSign-Up Today\n\nThis weekend, after months of fighting his deportation, a community organzier who many of us had been supporting was arrested by ICE. While I would love to tell you about his resilience in the face of life's struggles and his courage in the face of injustice (both true), today I need to remember that even the bravest among us have moments of terror and fear. I do not know what he felt when he was surprised by ICE as he left his home on his way to turn himself in, but for him and countless others, I can only imagine the terror that people are today. Rather than falling into the trap of \"moving on\" as a way to avoid conflict, this week's prayer sits in the middle of terror and fear as best as it can — maybe it will be enough to make us realize that this is no way to live.\n\n### For Those Who Live in Terror #LetUsPray\n\n _Let Us Pray —_\n\n _For those who live in terror today, we pray\nFor those who must hide their terror, we pray\nFor those who have known terror for generations, we pray\nAnd for those who have chosen to reign terror upon others, we pray.\n\nGod, in the face of struggle, the world tells us\nbe resilient\nbe brave\ndo not be afraid\njust move on already_\n\n _You know that terror and fear are real\nterror traumatizes\nterror intimidates\nterror menaces\nterror paralyzes\n\nGod, be present with your beloved\nhowever and wherever terror is felt_\n\n _be with individuals who live in terror\nwith the stranger who lives in terror of isolation\nwith the friend who lives in terror of violence\nand with everyone who lives in terror of the unknown._\n\n_be with families who live in terror\nwith the guardian who lives in terror that they will not come home\nwith the child who lives in terror that their parent will not return\nwith anyone who lives in terror of the abuser in their home._\n\n_be with communities who live in terror\nwith those who live in terror of gun violence\nwith those who live in terror of economic betrayal\nand with those whose terror has been ignored.\n\nbe with those who live in terror of poverty\nthe terror of hunger\nthe terror of eviction\nand the terror of sickness._\n\n_be with those held captive by institutions of terror\nthe terror of incarceration\nthe terror of environmental injustice\nand the terror of militarism._\n\n_be with those to dismiss the terrorized\nthe privileged\nthe powerful\nand the perpetrators._\n\n_and be with those who terrorize\nmay they know Your presence in their lives\nmay their souls break open to see You in others\nand may they have the courage to resist\nwhen powers and principles call upon them to terrorize again._\n\n_For all these things we pray._\n\n_— AMEN_\n\nPeace,\n\n****Upgrade today********: #LETUSPRAY****\n\nTo gain access to this and future liturgical offerings and preaching prompts, consider becoming a Paid Subscriber for less than $1/month.\n\n become a paid subscriber \n\n## LITURGY AND PREACHING PROMPTS\n\n#### Sunday, February 22, 2026: _First Sunday in Lent_\n\n**RCL Year A:****** Genesis 2:15-17; 3:1-7, Psalm 32, Romans 5:12-19, Matthew 4:1-11\n**NL431:** John 11:1-44, Psalm 104:27-30\n\n### This post is for subscribers only\n\nBecome a member to get access to all content\n\nSubscribe now",
