  "textContent": "You are reading The Amalgamation, a subscriber-supported newsletter.\n****Please consider becoming a Free or Paid Subscriber today.****\n\n subscribe \n\nAs I emerge from my writing hermitage, and run smack into the realities of daily life, I am reminded that, in the midst of overwhelming global and national events, we must not ignore the tender places in our lives that continue to need our attention.\n\n_Let Us Pray . . ._\n\n_God of the swirling chaos,\nWith strife and suffering surrounding us\nWith terror and violence taunting us\nWith despair and desperation laying claim to our spirits.\nGod, we cannot hold everything all at once\nBecause we are barely holding on to everything else — _\n\n_For loved ones who are struggling with health:\nmental, emotional, and physical. _\n\n_For relationships that need time to be tended:\nfamily, work, and friends._\n\n_For the things we often never share:\nour heartaches, our diagnoses, and our anxieties._\n\n_For the parts of ourselves that seek liberation:\ncreation, curiosity, and rest._\n\n_For the daily frustrations of life\nFor the things that never take a break\nFor everything else, we lift these all to you._\n\n_God, remind us that we need not hold everything on our own.\nGrant us the humility to believe this to be true.\nAllow us the wisdom to know when and how to hold the struggles of others.\nAnd bring our collective spirit calm out of the chaos of the day._\n\n_For all of these things we pray._\n\n_AMEN._\n\nIt is my intention to offer a prayer every Thursday as my own spiritual discipline, addressing an event or issue of the day.
