Error installing F-Droid client on a Fire Stick

Watched it crashing when trying to update repo data so patience won’t fix it. Might try fdroid-cli or hosting my own repo of old packages restricted to the last few versions compatible with Android 5.1. Did someone already do something similar by any chance?
