🔥 There were no reported injuries after a bus caught fire on South Clerk Street at 7.30pm last night. The Lothian Bus single-decker number 2 service was completely engulfed in flames while parked at the city-bound bus stop near The Southern Bar.

• Residents in a flat above posted this video of the start of the fire.
• An eye witness said all passengers were evacuated safely and firefighters put out the blaze quickly, reports Gary Flockhart in The Scotsman.

🚔 A man described as a 'useful idiot' who set fire to a beauty salon on Albert Street and a garage on Milton Road East in March last year has been jailed for more than seven years. - Neil Pooran, Evening News & STV News.

• ⮑ The CCG Group development, next to the big Asda on Sandpiper Drive, is a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom homes, which will be offered as social and mid-market rent, reports Project Scotland.

💰 Participatory Budgeting projects like the Leith Decides scheme, where locals can vote on how a pot of around £40,000 is shared among local groups, could be expanded thanks to income from the city's upcoming new tourist tax. Today councillors will discuss plans to hand out £2m over three years, at the Housing, Homelessness and Fair Work Committee from 10am at the City Chambers and online at this link.

🍷 The Mara wine and cocktail bar at 58 The Shore, in Leith, has closed. It opened in 2024. It was run by the team behind the Malones Irish pubs, who said selling the bar 'hasn't been an easy choice ', but came due to 'an unexpected opportunity arose that felt right for us personally and professionally.' - They posted this statement on Instagram.

• ⮑ There's better news for local bars in the latest edition of Popped Cork by Chloe Archibald-Ansari, including: a look inside Skoll & Hati (which replaced Under The Stairs and is run by the Cocktail Geeks team), deals at Paz Taqueria and local bar jobs. 🍽️ A new chapter in the life of 3 Bristo Place (formerly The Forest Cafe , Checkpoint , Superhero and others) will see a new venue called Uncle Tiger open later this month. Promising a menu inspired by 'various Asian food cultures' Uncle Tiger , will open Wednesday to Saturday, 5pm to 10pm. It's run by Ôir Group, who also have Lucky Yu, Bodega and The Captain Darling. - More details via Dram Scotland.
