New electric Eclipse Cross to join Mitsubishi’s European SUV lineup

Mitsubishi Motors Europe has announced that it will unveil the next generation of the Eclipse Cross SUV in September 2025. The new model will be a fully electric battery electric vehicle (BEV) designed specifically for the European market. It will enter the C-SUV segment, the largest vehicle segment in Europe. This will be Mitsubishi’s first BEV launch in the region since the i-MiEV, which was introduced in 2010. The new Eclipse Cross will join the company’s expanding European lineup, which includes the recently launched Outlander plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and the upcoming Grandis internal combustion engine/hybrid (ICE/HEV) model set for a July 2025 debut. Photo credit: Mitsubishi The Eclipse Cross will be manufactured by Groupe Renault at Ampere’s Electricity facility in Douai, France. It will be offered initially with a long-range battery option, available from launch in the fourth quarter of 2025. A mid-range version is scheduled to follow in 2026. Mitsubishi states that the vehicle will include advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), a new generation of infotainment technology with Google built-in, and a design based on the brand’s “Dynamic Shield” styling. The company aims to do this with an SUV-focused lineup that spans internal combustion, hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and fully electric powertrains. The Eclipse Cross will serve as the C-SUV BEV in the brand’s European model range, which currently includes the B-car Colt (ICE/HEV), B-SUV ASX (ICE/HEV), C-SUV Grandis (ICE/HEV), and D-SUV Outlander PHEV.
