Around the world, automakers are working to implement new ways to make their infotainment systems more useful to drivers. One of those ways is integration of large language model-based AIs like OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Google’s Gemini. For Tesla owners, the obvious integration would be xAI’s Grok platform, created by Tesla CEO Elon Musk. The CEO tweeted that as late as next week, Tesla models will have Grok built in. We take any timing from Elon Musk here with a grain of salt, and you should too, but it wouldn’t be surprising if the integration happens in the near future. Grok is coming to Tesla vehicles very soon. Next week at the latest.— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 10, 2025 Do people want LLMs in their cars? That doesn’t seem to matter, but when it comes to Grok, there might be more backlash than normal. Just this week, Grok went full-on anti-semitic, supporting the Great Replacement Theory, claiming that everything should be blamed on Jewish people, and even make crude sexual comments about Tesla’s former CEO, Linda Yaccarino. Now, it shouldn’t surprise anyone that the AI being actively mainuplated by the same guy who threw two Sieg Heils on inaugaration day would be Nazi-supporting, but it’s unlikely normal people who still have a Tesla want “MechaHitler” when they’re asking for directions or a restaurant recommendation. Tesla does need the help, though. Sales are down and the federal tax incentives that helped make the company profitable are gone thanks to the passing of the “Big Beautiful Bill.” Grok integration might help goose the already overpriced stock valuation, but we’ll have to see if it actually helps sell more cars.
