Jeep introduces range-extended Grand Wagoneer with over 500 miles of range

Jeep will introduce a range-extended electric version of the Grand Wagoneer for the 2026 model year. The model, described as the first range-extended sport utility vehicle in the U.S. market, combines battery-electric propulsion with an onboard gasoline engine that generates electricity to extend driving range. The Grand Wagoneer REEV uses a liquid-cooled 92-kWh battery pack arranged in a parallel configuration with pouch cells. The battery is positioned in the center of the vehicle to maintain a flat floor and preserve interior space. Power flows from a 3.6-liter V-6 engine to a 130-kW generator, which converts mechanical energy into electricity. That electricity can charge the battery when needed or conserve battery power if desired. The vehicle’s wheels are powered exclusively by electric motors. Jeep estimates the REEV system will produce 647 horsepower and 620 pound-feet of torque. The company expects 0–60 mph acceleration in about five seconds, making it the quickest and most powerful version of the Grand Wagoneer to date. Total driving range is anticipated to exceed 500 miles. The range-extended system is designed to offer electric-only operation for short trips and daily driving while providing long-distance capability for extended travel or towing. The REEV will be assembled at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Michigan alongside internal combustion versions of the Grand Wagoneer. Production of electrified models is part of a previously announced $97.6 million investment at the facility.
