"textContent": "This is just a quick update to let you know that as of today (June 11, 2026) my science fiction novel, _Faraway Star_ , is now available, at least in ebook versions, across various online retailers. The Amazon Kindle version can be found here, but it’s up on various other sites as well, such as Apple (here), Barnes & Noble (here), and Kobo (here). The paperback version is taking a bit longer to get ready, but there will be a paperback version available too, likely starting on June 17, as well as an audiobook version.I’ve been talking about it for a long time, but now you finally have a chance to read it for yourself!\n\nI’ve done a number of articles on this blog about various aspects of _Faraway Star_. An index of them appears at the end of this one. If you’ve been following it, you may know that I wrote the original story that became this book in 1993, when I was in college, and it’s been by far the book that had the longest gestation period of any I’ve written. The themes of it, including peace, resistance, protest, love, diversity and antifascism, are even more relevant today than ever before in the long time it took to write it.\n\nIf you’re a regular reader of my stuff and want to support me, the best way to do so would be to buy the book and then leave a review of it, especially if you buy the Amazon version. This will help boost it in the rankings and gain more readers.\n\nJust a note: neither the cover art of _Faraway Star_ , nor any of the conceptual images used to promote it, are AI-generated. They’re all done by real human artists, and it’s infuriating that I have to say that—and even more infuriating that when I _do_ say that, sometimes I’m not believed. But don’t get me started on that.\n\nThank you all so much for your support, it means a lot. I hope you enjoy _Faraway Star_ , and get something worthwhile out of it.\n\nHere are my previous articles regarding Faraway Star:\n\n * The books I’m working on: Faraway Star and Wild Among the Moons (an introduction to the concepts of the books).\n * Choose your weapon: The tech of my science fiction book Faraway Star (specifically about the role of technology in science fiction and storytelling).\n * Strange synchronicity: Finishing an antiwar novel in a time of war (related to the outbreak of the conflict with Iran, and the antiwar message of _Faraway Star_).\n * The first concept art for Faraway Star is out! (showcasing a previous image of the main character and an early setting).\n * More concept art for Faraway Star is out! (showing another view of an episode from the book).\n * Cover Reveal: Faraway Star, my upcoming science fiction novel (showing the cover art publicly for the first time).\n * Chapter 1 of Faraway Star, my new science fiction novel (giving you the text of the first chapter).\n\n\n\n* * *\n\n### The Value Proposition\n\nWhy should you be reading this blog, or receiving it as a newsletter? This is why.\n\n☕ If you appreciate what I do, buy me a virtual coffee from time-to-time to support my work. I know it seems small, but it truly helps.\n\n📖 You could also buy my newest book.\n\n🎓 Like learning? Find out what courses I’m currently offering at my website.\n\n📽 More the visual type? Here is my YouTube channel with tons of free history videos.",
